At Precise Proofing, you actually talk to a person. We service our clients with one-on-one attention. We talk about your project, we talk about your business, we talk about your goals, and we talk about YOU. So, let’s make a connection today.
Our mission is to provide writing, proofreading, and editing services to position clients beyond their competitors, enhance branding efforts, and ensure optimum market success.
If that’s all we had to say, that would be great. I mean, what company wouldn’t want all of that? However, a wonderfully crafted mission statement says nothing about us or our passion. It only tells you the result of our passion.
Every Word Counts here at Precise Proofing. We’ve got a healthy respect for the English language. Without a doubt, our language is ever-changing and evolving—it always has been. Whether we’re writing press releases, creating web copy, or proofreading an annual report, we believe in doing things right the first time. And getting it right makes us all stand head-and-shoulders above our competition. We look good by making you look good!
Misspellings, improper punctuation, typos, and the like drive us nuts! We approach every document like a hunt for buried treasure. Our mission (woops…passion) is to obliterate the world of stray commas, misused and abused words, dangling participles, misplaced modifiers, subject/verb disagreements, etc. Okay, maybe that’s a lofty goal—even a little over-the-top—but we can sure have fun trying!
I have always been a lover of words, writing stories as far back as elementary school. After turning in a report about the state of Connecticut, my fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Maurice, gave me an A+++ and told me that from then on I could write in pen! That was a big deal.
In middle school I wrote more stories and poems, enlisting a friend to draw the coordinating illustrations. Then a high school English teacher encouraged me to pursue a career in writing. My path had been set.
While attending Roger Williams University, situated on a gorgeous peninsula in Bristol, Rhode Island, I graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Communications and a concentration in Journalism. I also earned two minors in Creative Writing and Business Administration all while working an internship writing feature stories and research articles for the RWU alumni magazine, writing for the collegiate newspaper, and managing the yearbook as editor-in-chief. But that’s another story…
Since then, I have worked as a feature writer/staff reporter for several newspapers in Connecticut and Massachusetts, written monthly newsletters for Klaussner Furniture Industries’ export customers, run a desktop publishing business, proofread/copyedited educational materials for Carson-Dellosa Publishing, and even served as an essay judge for the NC Silver Arts Awards.
Today, I am a proud member of SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators), ACES (American Copy Editors Society), and Piedmont Business Leaders as well as owner of Precise Proofing. Thanks for taking the time to get to know me; I’d like to take the time to get to know you.
