Here we go again.
There are so many errors on Old Navy’s latest t-shirt, it’s hard to know where to begin. Let’s start with the fact that neither the Houston Texans nor the AFC existed in 1961. (The AFC was formed in 1970 and the Houston Texans started playing in 2002.) In addition, there was a team called the Houston Oilers that won an AFL championship in 1961, but that’s not the AFC. A team called the Dallas Texans did exist in 1961, but they never won any championships.
Ironically, this is not the first flub by Old Navy in their merchandising efforts. The latest ‘Houston Texans’ t-shirt falls in line with what is becoming a deluge of clothing filled with factual and grammatical errors.
It was only in 2011 that Old Navy produced it’s premiere collegiate t-shirt line with a punctuation error, leaving out the apostrophe in “Let’s Go!!” Later in 2011, three university t-shirts in another Old Navy collegiate line were produced with the wrong founding years: University of Iowa, the University of Arizona, and Colorado State University.
Old Navy, there is an easy solution for all of your woes that will save you time, money, and embarrassment–hire an editor.
