Professional, Affordable Manuscript Editing

Why do writers need manuscript editing?

Did you know most editors don’t read past the first page of a submission? And if they find an error in the first paragraph, the next stop for your manuscript is the shredder.

We edit all of the following works and more:

  • Novels
  • Novellas
  • Short Stories
  • Books
  • Children’s Picture Books
  • YA Novels
  • Middle Grade Novels
  • Nonfiction
  • Short Stories
  • Articles
  • And more!

Don’t let your manuscript get buried in the slush pile. We transform your manuscript from less than perfect to polished. So leave the manuscript editing to us!

Move on to your next WIP (work-in-progress) or just kick up your feet while Precise Proofing refines your manuscript for editorial submission.

During our manuscript editing process, we’ll be sure to preserve your voice or style. If your characters speak in a dialect, we’ll check that it rings true.

We’ll fine-tune your manuscript by ensuring format consistency, checking for proper punctuation and grammar usage, eliminating accidental misspellings or misused words that spell-check doesn’t catch and so much more!

Precise Proofing also performs developmental manuscript editing services, which provide a more in-depth critique of characterization, plot, story arc, pacing, organization, structure, voice, tone, literary devices, stylistic elements, and overall substance.

Your manuscript is in safe hands with Precise Proofing.

What’s the difference between proofreading and editing?
Good question. Proofreading includes checking for proper grammar, diction, punctuation and spelling as well as conducting a basic document overview (e.g., alignment, text flow, and font consistency). Editing digs even deeper into your document to spot check facts, provide suggestions to further improve your document, and even rewrite limited portions of text as necessary. See our What We Do page for more details.
